The 35-year-old Innanen has been a frequent New York visitor since 2008, falling for the city’s vibrant, ever-evolving jazz and improv scenes. This time the fearless Finn’s tour calendar includes the second edition of the two-day Mikko Innanen Intercontinental Extravaganza at Ibeam, Brooklyn; four dates with the New Jerseyan guitarist John Ehlis; this summer’s only live performance of The Curators and three concerts with the mysterious French clarinettist JohnnyBGood.
The Mikko Innanen Intercontinental Extravaganza was first organized in June 2012, featuring such brilliant musicians as Andrew Cyrille, Sylvie Courvoisier, Ken Filiano, Lou Grassi, Steve Swell, Thomas Heberer, Max Johnson and Joe Hertenstein. This time the event is part of New Cut!, a new multi-art collaboration of Favex – Finnish Film & Audiovisual Export, Design Forum Finland and Music Finland, supported by the Finnish Ministry of Employment and the Economy.
